Jr. Youth

Jr. Youth

A ministry for students in grade 7 & 8 to begin to deepen their relationship with God and have fun with friends.

The RIOT (Reaching In & Out Together)
Sunday Morning, Grade 7 & 8 students meet during the 11:00 a.m. worship services on Sundays. Each week students experience a mixture of games, a challenging talk or video, and most importantly, interaction with a small group.
Each hour is broken down into three parts:

  • Hang Time – Before each hour begins, students and leaders come into Room G or the gym and hang out while listening to music, shooting hoops, playing ball hockey or just grabbing one of Mandy’s homemade cookies and chilling out on the sofas, catching up on what’s been going on with friends.

  • Teaching Time – During the first 15-20 minutes, there is a video or a talk that focuses students’ attention on the topic of the week. The “big idea” that is taught weekly is the same as what is being taught in the Auditorium and in kids’ ministry. On Sundays, the whole family is hearing the same message specific to each age.

  • Discussion Time – This is the “meat” of what we desire to accomplish with grade 7 & 8 students. We meet in small groups divided randomly each week allowing students to meet new people week to week. The small groups are led by leaders who are not just “Sunday School Teachers.” These adults invest in students’ lives and encourage discussion rather than instruction.
  • Life Groups
Life Groups are a place to “connect and grow” for our church community including our Jr. youth. Each group meets on the night of the week that is convenient for them, taking turns at each others’ homes. Because each group is unique – what they study or do together is unique. In a Life Group, you will develop friendships with other students, and you will interact weekly with a leader who cares about you, supports you, and challenges you in your faith journey. Quarterly Events
We like fun! We meet several times a year as a large group to go tobogganing, play games like 4 on a couch, go to Canada’s Wonderland, watch a movie etc. We also have a winter retreat every year on the 3rd weekend of February at Camp Crossroads. Check out our upcoming events on our site.

    Outreach
We believe missions is a lifestyle – not a one time deal. We partner with Adventures in Missions to provide a yearly summer discipleship trip that includes seven weeks of “at home” training prior to the trip and three debrief meetings following the trip.

    Baptism
Have you recently come into a relationship with Christ? Have you been a Christ follower for a while, but have never been Baptized as an adult? Is baptism the next step in your journey?
