The Health Bus is a mobile public health clinic operated by the Public Health Department in cooperation with community agencies since September 1999. Staff provide the homeless, vulnerable and geographically isolated persons in Niagara Region with various health services.

The ten-metre bus, which is just under 11,000 kilograms, is staffed on a rotational basis by: two registered nurse practitioners, public health nurses, dental hygienists and dental assistants from the department’s Oral Disease Prevention Program and a community support worker from our Community Mental Health Program. Physician consultation is provided by a St. Catharines-based doctor.

The Health Bus schedule changes seasonally and is widely distributed. The Health Bus makes stops at several community agencies across the peninsula. During the summer months (April 1-October 31) the Health Bus is at Southridge Community Church from 4:30-7:00 pm every Thursday.
