Tabor Manor

Tabor Manor

The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old.
Proverbs 20:29

Tabor Manor Volunteer Coordinator/Chaplain: Don Middlemas, (905) 934-2548.

Tabor Manor, located at 1 Tabor Drive, St. Catharines is a home for seniors. It was originally established by Mennonite Brethren Churches in the Niagara area. At that time, it catered mainly to seniors connected with the Mennonite Brethren Church. In more recent years, the region has become involved in its administration and anyone who has a need is eligible to become a resident.

Tabor Manor has three types of accommodation; apartments for those who are able to enjoy complete independent living, single rooms for residents who are fairly independent but need some help with personal care and full care facilities with complete nursing and personal care.

It offers many programs and activities to enhance quality of life. Those who can and are interested enjoy coffee hours, Bible studies, birthday parties, games, music nights, baking and special entertainment. Regular chapel services are provided twice a week as well as monthly communion services. These are conducted by the activity director on staff and the chaplain together with many volunteers from Mennonite Churches.

The Tabor Manor Auxiliary, made up of representatives from the Niagara Mennonite churches, also play a large roll by organizing several yearly fundraisers. All profits are used for improvements of the facilities directly related to the comfort and enjoyment of the residents. These events also provide an important social time for the residents.

Southridge Church, being a part of the Ontario Mennonite Conference of Churches gladly contributes to the ministry of Tabor Manor. Southridge volunteers conduct about five chapel services per year. The Tabor Auxiliary also relies completely on church volunteers for their events. Information on service opportunities appear in the Ridge In Focus from time to time. Your participation is always welcome.
