Jamaica Bible College

title

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up…
Ephesians 4:11-12

Teams from the Ridge regularly travel to JBC to help our brothers and sisters in Jamaica. They have served in construction projects (replacing roofs, painting, library expansion), by teaching, by upgrading, by expanding and maintaining computer equipment, by converting the student records to electronic form and by conducting youth activities.

It has been an enriching experience for Southridge to get to know many of the staff and students at JBC with a highlight being two visits by JBC staff and students over the last 4 years.

JBC is going through some tough times and finding money to pay salaries is a great challenge. At the end of February they had no idea where salaries were going to come from. Due to the generosity of God and their faith, money came to pay staff up to the end of May. The contribution that Southridge and John Vanderkruk made was really appreciated as they had no idea where the money was to come from for the summer. There are 3 full time teachers, Rev. Gordon (Principal), Ottmar McCleary (Acedemic Dean) and Brian Wallace (Property Manager). There are also 4 part time teachers.

Another priority that JBC is working towards is getting accreditation in an evermore competitive market of Bible and Business Schools.

This year, 2007, Southridge will be contributing funds toward upgrading the computer lab that will help equip students with many necessary skills for an evermore complex work world.
